Role Overview: Legal Counsel, Employment
Checkout.com is seeking a Legal Counsel with expertise in global employment law to join the Employment Legal team in London. This role involves providing legal advice on a variety of employment matters across the company’s international operations.
The Legal Counsel will work closely with the People Team and other stakeholders worldwide. The position supports employees in the UK, EMEA, APAC, and the Americas, offering exposure to complex and varied employment law issues. The role requires a consultative, collaborative approach and involves leading legal advice in several jurisdictions as well as contributing to global initiatives.
What You Will Do
- Advise on employment-related issues, including recruitment, contracts, policies, compensation and benefits (such as employee share schemes), HR compliance, restrictive covenants, performance management, misconduct investigations, employee relations, terminations, and employment litigation
- Support the employment law team in developing efficient processes and templates for employment matters
- Utilize AI tools where appropriate to streamline legal workflows
- Collaborate with the People Team and other global stakeholders
- Lead legal advice in multiple jurisdictions and contribute to employment law projects across regions
Who We’re Looking For
- Skilled in global employment law, with experience managing diverse and complex legal matters

- Strong critical judgment and the ability to advise on sensitive employment issues

This position reports directly to the Associate General Counsel (Head of Employment) in London.
