QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED) is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include an Associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor's degree. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly regarded. A minimum of 2 years of experience as an administrative assistant, preferably within a law firm or corporate legal department, as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal. Familiarity with Personal Injury, Workers' Compensation, Premises Liability, or other related legal practices is advantageous.

Summary

We are on the lookout for a dedicated and qualified Litigation Assistant to bolster our team. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of our law firm, providing essential administrative support to our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust work ethic, outstanding problem-solving capabilities, and the adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute administrative tasks, such as scheduling court hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
  • Maintain and update pleadings and discovery indexes.
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices for legal proceedings.
  • Enhance administrative processes to optimize workflow efficiency.
  • Collect, scrutinize, and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney assessment and case preparation.
  • Draft and proofread legal correspondence and documents, including pleadings and contracts.
  • Research relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles to support the preparation of reports, case files, and legal guidance.
  • Handle client billing by preparing, finalizing, and dispatching bills, as well as resolving discrepancies in collaboration with the billing attorney.
  • Coordinate communication with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions.
  • Organize and maintain documents in both paper and electronic filing systems.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned to fulfill the business's needs.
