We are excited to announce an opening for a Logistics Manager to join our dynamic team, reporting directly to the Project Director. This is a site-based role in Sines, Portugal, crucial for overseeing and coordinating all site logistics and material movements, ensuring operations are efficient, safe, and executed in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of the site compound and all designated storage spaces to optimize efficiency and safety.
- Supervise the booking and coordination of material deliveries to and from the site.
- Work closely with subcontractors to clarify delivery schedules, storage locations, and access routes from off-site facilities to the project site.
- Ensure strict organizational control of site deliveries to facilitate an orderly arrival of materials.
- Participate in pre-start meetings with subcontractors to relay site logistics procedures, storage restrictions, and delivery booking protocols via the Datascope system.
- Manage and monitor traffic flow across the site, ensuring a safe and efficient movement of vehicles and deliveries.
- Encourage a “just-in-time” delivery strategy with all subcontractors to minimize congestion and enhance site operations.
- Guarantee that all loading and unloading activities are performed within the designated compound to avoid disruptions or blockages of site roads.
- Lead and supervise logistics operatives, ensuring compliance with site safety standards, work ethics, and project specifications.
- Maintain detailed records of labour allocation, delivery tracking, and work progress reports.
Qualifications:
- A 3rd level qualification in an engineering or construction-related field is preferred; however, candidates with a strong trades background and 3+ years of relevant experience will also be considered.
- At least 2+ years of experience in a logistics or materials management role on large-scale construction projects is ideal.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a history of managing teams of operatives and subcontractors.
- Extensive practical knowledge of load management, storage allocation, subcontractor coordination, and on-site materials handling.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
