Opportunity Overview
Each project presents a variety of unique tasks that contributors may undertake, including:
- Creating original materials that simulate authentic engineering workflows;
- Formulating engineering problems that necessitate Python programming for simulations and calculations;
- Ensuring that these problems are computationally intensive, requiring numerical methods or iterative solutions;
- Developing challenges around system design, optimization, and analysis;
- Designing problems based on real-world research challenges or practical applications from the field;
- Validating solutions using Python with standard engineering libraries;
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified, accurate answers.
Qualifications and Skills Required
This role is ideal for material scientists and engineers with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent work arrangements. The ideal candidates will possess:
- A degree in Material Science or a related discipline;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation; familiarity with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or any comparable programming language is acceptable;
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, including applied, research, or teaching roles;
- A solid understanding of practical engineering constraints and approximations;
- Exceptional written communication skills in English (C1+ level).

Expected Project Commitment
This project anticipates a commitment of approximately 10–20 hours per week during active phases, depending on project requirements. This is an estimate and does not guarantee a specific workload.
Compensation Details
Contributors can earn up to $35 per hour, subject to their expertise and contribution pace. Please note that compensation may vary significantly across different projects based on their complexity and scope.
