Additionally, a strong understanding of practical engineering challenges and constraints is necessary, along with excellent written English skills (C1+).

Opportunity Overview

Each project presents unique challenges, where contributors may:

  • Architect original material engineering problems that mimic real-world engineering workflows;
  • Develop problems necessitating Python programming for engineering calculations and simulations;
  • Ensure that problems are computationally robust, requiring numerical methods or iterative solutions;
  • Generate problems centered on system design, optimization, and analytical evaluation;
  • Base problems on real research challenges or practical engineering applications;
  • Validate solutions using Python along with standard engineering libraries;
  • Clearly document problem statements and provide verified correct answers.

Candidate Requirements

This role is ideal for material scientists and engineers proficient in Python, open to non-permanent, part-time projects. The ideal candidates will possess:

  • A degree in Material Science or a related field;
  • Strong Python skills for numerical validation; experience in MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or any domain-specific libraries will also be considered;
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, including applied, research, or teaching experience;
  • A solid understanding of practical engineering constraints and approximations;
  • Exceptional written English skills (C1+).

How the Process Works

Project Commitment

During active project phases, tasks are anticipated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week, subject to project needs. This is an estimation and not a guarantee of workload.

Compensation Details

Contributors can earn up to $35 per hour, depending on their experience level and contribution pace. Please note that compensation varies across different projects based on scope, complexity, and required expertise.
