Role Overview
The Materials Engineer plays a pivotal role in managing all material-related operations for infrastructure and building projects. This position entails ensuring adherence to specifications, standards, and project requirements. Responsibilities include evaluating material submissions, conducting rigorous inspections, coordinating laboratory testing, and guaranteeing that all materials utilized in construction adhere to stringent quality benchmarks. The engineer will collaborate closely with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to facilitate the successful execution of projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review and authorize material submittals, technical data sheets, and samples.
- Verify compliance of all materials with project specifications, international standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Oversee and monitor laboratory testing for materials such as concrete, asphalt, soil, aggregates, and additional construction materials.
- Conduct on-site inspections to confirm material quality and appropriate storage, handling, and installation procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive records of material approvals, testing results, and quality documentation.
- Identify non-conforming materials and ensure implementation of corrective measures.
- Assist in value engineering initiatives and suggest alternative materials as necessary.
- Engage in technical meetings, coordination workshops, and quality assessments.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to address material-related challenges.
