As a Mechanical Engineer II at Enprotech Corp, you will play a pivotal role in the mechanical design and optimization of hydro turbine equipment. This dynamic position requires you to create innovative, cost-effective designs while ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints during the final design phase. Your expertise will be essential in identifying and rectifying inefficiencies in mechanical processes, driving continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and layout development for bespoke hydro turbine equipment, ensuring integration with the entire powerhouse equipment scope, including generator, turbine, balance-of-plant, and civil structures.
  • Conduct classical stress calculations and finite element analyses on critical turbine components to ensure structural integrity.
  • Compile comprehensive structural analysis reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create detailed CAD drawings and bills of materials for all new and rehabilitated components, including fabrications, castings, forgings, and machined elements.
  • Evaluate diverse design requirements and propose innovative solutions or alternative construction methods.
  • Act as the technical lead on complex projects with minimal guidance from senior engineers.
  • Facilitate internal design reviews with multidisciplinary teams and external reviews with customers and vendors.
  • Support various project needs in collaboration with Project Management, Proposals, Procurement, Operations, and Field Service teams.
  • Work closely with Operations and Field Service to troubleshoot technical issues arising during equipment manufacturing or installation.
  • Engage in field testing and troubleshooting for turbine installations, under the mentorship of seasoned engineers.
  • Develop Operations and Maintenance Manuals and assist Field Service with installation and commissioning activities.
  • Independently travel to sites for kickoffs and inspections, as well as to vendors for quality and scope inspections as necessary.
  • Supervise and mentor co-ops, Engineering Trainees, and Engineer I, fostering their development and training.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO Quality Standards relevant to the design function.

Development Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the advancement of mechanical analysis tools or methodologies as directed by the Manager, Turbine Engineering.
