About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer on Harmattan AI's Airframe team, you will be responsible for the design of UAV platforms and subsystems in a dynamic, autonomous setting. You will take charge of projects from initial concept to final production, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability are optimized.
Responsibilities
Design and prototype UAV platforms and complex subsystems, ensuring an optimal balance between durability, efficiency, and performance.
Take full ownership of system-level constraints, including thermal management, mass budget, COGS, and environmental sealing.
Collaborate closely with R&D teams (Electrical, Software, and Industrialisation) to facilitate smooth mechanical integration of sensors, payloads, and electronics.
Conduct thorough testing, including stress and failure analysis, proactively identifying risks and developing the necessary tools to validate designs for extreme environments.
Manage your own delivery packages and technical specifications with precision, consistently meeting or exceeding requirements under tight deadlines.
Oversee the manufacturing process through collaboration with suppliers and external manufacturers, focusing on plastic injection molding and precision machining to achieve quality and schedule targets.
Maintain comprehensive documentation through Confluence, including all designs, test results, and production workflows, to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
