Mechanical Technician Internship - Full Time

Responsibilities:Assist the Mechanical Maintenance and Operations team in the upkeep and operation of facility systems like HVAC, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, chillers, and process utilities under the mentorship of experienced technicians. Support preventive and corrective maintenance (PM/CM) activities on mechanical equipment and utility systems in accordance with established job plans and safety protocols. Engage in daily inspections, checking equipment for vibrations, leaks, temperature fluctuations, unusual sounds, or signs of wear. Learn proper alignment, torqueing, and mechanical assembly/disassembly techniques under supervision. Help with lubrication, oil sampling, filter changes, and seal inspections while mastering documentation and preventive maintenance practices. Observe and assist in pump, valve, and piping maintenance, including gasket replacements and leak checks. Participate in equipment startup and shutdown procedures, understanding system interdependencies and the significance of maintaining safe operational limits. Assist with HVAC maintenance tasks such as air handler filter changes, belt inspections, fan checks, and coil cleaning. Support monitoring of chilled water, compressed air, and process cooling water systems by recording temperatures, pressures, and flow data. Learn mechanical troubleshooting techniques, identifying abnormal system behavior, and performing diagnostic checks under guidance. Participate in equipment overhauls and rebuilds, gaining exposure to teardown, inspection, and reassembly processes. Learn to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment schematics.
