Thank you for your interest in joining Oklo! We are actively seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to become a vital member of our nuclear fuel recycling engineering team.
Position Overview
The Mechatronics Engineer will play a crucial role in designing automated systems and robotic material-handling equipment for remote-operated processes within radiological hot cells at our Oklo Fuel Recycling Facility. Daily responsibilities encompass system design, CAD modeling, requirements generation, and the prototyping and integration of enhancements into various systems. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including facility design, chemical engineering, pyroprocessing, instrumentation and controls, software engineering, process modeling, quality assurance, and licensing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design robotic and electromechanical systems for the remote handling of materials in high-temperature, high-corrosion, and high-radiation environments.
- Define architecture, specifications, control logic, and performance criteria for automated material-handling and process systems.
- Integrate automation hardware, sensors, and control systems to ensure reliable unmanned operations.
- Act as the technical lead for automation and handling systems throughout their lifecycle.
- Develop comprehensive documentation to guide the fabrication, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of automated equipment.
- Create technical documentation for regulatory filings and internal knowledge capture.
- Build, test, and refine prototypes for automation and handling subsystems.
- Write clear and concise reports and communicate results effectively across various disciplines.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a Mechatronics Engineer who possesses:
- A strong academic background in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in designing automated systems, with emphasis on robotics and material handling.
- Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
