Job Summary
We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Medical Biller and Coder specializing in Urgent Care and Emergency Room services to join our dedicated healthcare team. The successful candidate will oversee the billing process, ensuring precise medical coding and facilitating swift payments from both insurance companies and patients. A thorough understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and collections processes is vital for thriving in this role.
Responsibilities
- Accurately and efficiently process medical billing claims utilizing coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9.
- Review patient records to confirm all necessary billing information is complete.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits before submitting claims to ensure appropriate reimbursement.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and manage medical collections as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of all billing transactions and communications with patients and insurance providers.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to address any discrepancies in billing or coding.
- Stay informed on updates in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies.
- Effectively use medical office systems to manage billing processes while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- Preferred experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, DRG (Diagnosis Related Group), and various coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9).
- Familiarity with medical records management and the healthcare reimbursement process.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills with healthcare professionals, insurance representatives, and patients.
- Proficient in medical office software and billing systems.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is advantageous but not mandatory.
