About the job

Medical Expert (SME) – Consultant Role Description

Overview

We are looking for a distinguished Medical Doctor to join our team as a consultant on AI training data projects for prominent AI model developers and organizations. Your primary responsibility will be to establish success metrics, analyze project outputs, and offer specialized insights to enhance quality and efficiency. By doing so, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of high-quality, domain-specific annotated datasets that adhere to the highest clinical and technical standards. You will work on clearly defined projects with specified deliverables, timelines, and milestones.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Standard Setting, Quality Control, and Process Enhancement

  • Establish clinical quality success metrics that align with best practices and recognized medical guidelines.
  • Create project-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality Assurance (QA) rubrics, and reference materials to ensure outputs meet high clinical and client expectations.
  • Review project outputs (annotations, classifications, medical coding, and metadata) against established standards, identifying and correcting errors prior to client delivery.
  • Execute structured QA evaluations on daily and weekly deliverables; identify, monitor, and resolve defects to ensure timely delivery.
  • Return work to contractors with detailed remediation notes for their improvement and learning.
  • Advise on tools, workflows, and processes to achieve medical data quality benchmarks.
  • Manage evolving clinical edge cases, including new diagnostic criteria and ambiguous classifications, drafting acceptance criteria or alternative solutions.
  • Curate exemplary libraries of “gold standard” annotated datasets for calibration and reference.

Talent Evaluation & Output Enhancement

  • Engage in the assessment and vetting of medical annotators or contractor talent, including reviewing sample case work and domain-specific knowledge evaluations.
  • Provide actionable written feedback to enhance medical accuracy and consistency in contractor outputs.
  • Create targeted training or calibration resources, such as guidelines for the correct application of diagnostic codes and standards for ambiguous clinical presentations.

Support for Project Delivery

  • Offer expert guidance on clinical scoping and requirements during project initiation, including reference sources and domain-specific quality thresholds.
  • Provide specialized advice for edge cases, exceptions, and evolving specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
