Required Qualifications:A valid Tennessee teaching license with an English as a Second Language Pre-K-12 (490) endorsement. OR proof of enrollment in an approved job-embedded Educator Preparation Program. A conferred Bachelor’s degree. Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check. Desired Attributes:A strong commitment to working with students from under-resourced educational backgrounds. Demonstrated success in teaching students from these communities is highly preferred. At least two years of teaching experience is preferred. A passion for data-driven instruction. An unwavering commitment to KIPP Nashville’s mission, values, students, families, and community.

Join us as a Middle School Multilingual Teacher for the 2026-27 academic year!

As a Multilingual Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students on their journey to mastering the English language. Your responsibilities will encompass managing a dedicated caseload of multilingual learners, delivering essential Direct Services, and collaborating closely with Lead Teachers to ensure the needs of these students are met through tailored Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a variety of Direct Services such as ELD Sheltered Instruction, Content-Based Instruction, Structured English Instruction, and other approved models based on the specific needs of the school and students.

  • Engage with general education teachers to offer strategies, support, and insights for ILPs, collaboratively plan lessons, and monitor student progress towards ILP goals.

  • Screen and identify multilingual students utilizing the Universal WIDA Screener or W-APT.

  • Utilize data analysis to develop and oversee Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) for students.

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and district regulations regarding multilingual education.

  • Implement KIPP Nashville’s processes for managing student entry and exit from services.

  • Administer accommodations for relevant assessments, including WIDA ACCESS, TNReady, and other content assessments.

  • Create and maintain ILPs for all multilingual students and those who have transitioned out of services.

  • Monitor progress of transitional students to assess growth and determine the need for additional services.

Curriculum Development and Instruction:

  • Design and implement instructional strategies and materials that cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students, aligning with their ILPs and grade-level expectations.

  • Employ progress-monitoring tools to assess student performance and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

  • Provide daily feedback to students regarding their academic and character development.

  • Exhibit strong pedagogical skills in your teaching approach.

  • Collaborate effectively with the school team and across KIPP Nashville to foster a positive school culture that meets the needs of our students and their families.

  • Participate actively in all staff meetings and maintain open communication with colleagues.

  • Build strong relationships with students to create a supportive learning environment.
