Role Overview
The Music Copyright Associate safeguards the rights of artists and songwriters by identifying unlicensed music on YouTube. This role involves reviewing videos, claiming music on behalf of Orfium’s clients, and ensuring creators receive fair compensation. Expect to work with iconic music catalogs and contribute to the livelihoods of music creators. The Colombo-based team values energy, accuracy, and a genuine interest in music.
What You Will Do
- Identify and claim client-owned music in YouTube videos by applying listening skills and knowledge of YouTube, Orfium, and client policies.
- Research music catalog databases to verify songwriter and ownership information.
- Stay informed about trending music and viral tracks.
- Ensure all actions comply with YouTube copyright policies and internal guidelines.
- Work closely with supervisors to report trends, catalog issues, and claiming strategies.
- Support revenue growth through accurate music data management.
Requirements
- GCE A/Ls or GCE O/Ls plus a relevant certificate or diploma.
- 6 to 12 months of experience in music or a related field.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Proficiency with MS Office and G Suite tools.
- Attention to detail and high accuracy in daily work.
- Strong research and listening abilities to identify music across genres and formats.
- Collaborative, proactive approach and interest in digital rights topics.
- Flexible with working hours and comfortable with extended analysis of YouTube content.
