BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:A Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in legislative matters within either the private sector or a governmental entity. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Hands-on experience with federal appropriations, particularly in defense and classified funding. An advanced degree (MA, JD, PhD) in science, public policy, political science, international relations, or a closely related field. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. A proven track record of achieving significant legislative outcomes. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to navigate complex challenges. Experience in building coalitions and partnerships. A passion for the mission and objectives of SpaceX.

Role Overview

The National Security Government Affairs Manager joins the Government Affairs team to advance SpaceX’s business and growth goals. This role centers on federal lobbying and coalition-building, with an emphasis on telecommunications, broadband access, and national security.

What You Will Do

  • Represent SpaceX on policy issues related to national security, defense, intelligence, artificial intelligence, satellite communications, and related fields.
  • Develop and execute legislative strategies and policy initiatives, especially with defense appropriations and intelligence authorization committees.
  • Build and maintain relationships with federal officials, legislators, and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee consultants and external partners supporting government affairs projects.
  • Draft legislative proposals, attend hearings, prepare testimony, and shape policy positions.
  • Track and analyze changes in national security policy and funding.
  • Create presentations for SpaceX leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and prepare policy materials as needed.
