Qualifications

Required certifications: IAEI, CEI, or CompEx. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in electrical inspection. At least five (5) years of industry experience in Oil & Gas, Power & Utility, Construction, Manufacturing, or related fields. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Shop/vendor surveillance role. Solid understanding of Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) processes, codes, and standards. Ensure that electrical/instrumentation installations comply with NEC/IEC codes, specifications, and safety standards. Familiarity with ISO2859, the global standard for acceptance sampling in quality control. Schedule: 12-hour night shifts. Contract Duration: Starting as soon as possible for 4 to 6 weeks. Pay Rate: $40-$47/hour plus mileage in accordance with IRS guidelines. Expense reimbursements (Hotel, flight, meals, etc.) will be covered at actual cost.

About the job

SGS is seeking a qualified Electrical Inspector for a night shift contract based in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role involves being the primary electrical inspector during the night shifts, starting in February/March and lasting for approximately 4 to 6 weeks, with the possibility of further assignments in June and August.

  • Perform inspections in compliance with ISO2859 standards, with the expectation to sample 315 modules from each specified batch (8MW, 9MW, and 13MW) with Acceptable Quality Levels of 0% for Critical Defects, 1.5% for Major Defects, and 4.0% for Minor Defects.
  • Conduct 24/7 BOM verification during production to ensure that only approved BOM items are utilized in the modules.
  • Monitor key quality parameters at the workshop including Soldering, Lay-up, EL-1, Visual, Lamination, Framing, Calibration of Flash Tester, Flash Test, EL-2, Insulation Test, High Voltage Test, Packaging, RFID, Hi-pot, IR, Wet Leakage, PID, LID, etc.
  • Carry out Pre-shipment Inspections (PSI) on each lot as per the Client's Quality Assurance Plan, including Visual & Dimensional checks and review of Power Measurement reports.
  • Oversee 100% monitoring of container loading.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering drawings, and standards such as the National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
  • Identify and document quality issues.
  • Create comprehensive inspection reports and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Record inspection results and any non-conformities, and investigate these issues to identify causes and aid in corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with suppliers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
