Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Assistant Technician is an entry-level role that involves performing various routine field inspections and testing assignments. Under direct supervision, you will enhance your knowledge and experience in nondestructive testing methods, practices, and programs. This position supports specialized testing that assesses the quality, integrity, and safety of materials and structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in field and laboratory testing using a variety of automated and manual techniques to detect defects in products and structures, following established guidelines.
  • Analyze testing results based on predefined criteria.
  • Prepare daily reports and manage files for multiple projects.
  • Receive guidance from supervisors or project managers to troubleshoot testing issues.
  • Transport NDT equipment to and from project locations.
  • Conduct work in diverse terrains and weather conditions across various stages of construction projects.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards for workers and the public at project sites.
  • Study for and obtain Level II certification as per Olsson’s certification practice for NDT personnel, and pursue certification from the American Welding Society as a Certified Welding Inspector.
