Primary Responsibilities:Assist in selecting and purchasing firearms and related accessoriesCharacterize firearm performance (velocity, accuracy, etc.) to determine suitability for specific applicationsAdvise engineering teams on the proper installation, operation, safety, and regulatory requirements for firearm usage. Operate gas gun injectors within the Injection development systemConduct safety demonstrations and provide guidance on appropriate firearm usagePerform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of firearmsEnsure adherence to federal, state, and local firearm laws and regulationsMaintain accurate inventory records and manage firearm stock levelsInspect incoming firearms to meet quality and safety standardsStay informed on the latest advancements in firearm technology and industry trendsProvide expert advice on customization and modification of gas gunsQualifications:Minimum of 2 years of experience working with firearmsCertification as a firearms armorerHigh school diploma or equivalentStrong knowledge of various firearm models and their functionalitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills

We are currently seeking a part-time Firearm Specialist who will play a crucial role in the selection and operation of gas guns designed to propel targets into our innovative fusion development system. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of ballistics, ammunition specifications, and pertinent legal regulations surrounding firearm ownership and operation. You will be tasked with characterizing the installation of conventional gas guns and collaborating with engineers on the development of custom gas guns. This on-site role in Livermore, CA, reports directly to the lead engineer for the Injector subsystem of our fusion power plant, allowing you to leverage your expertise in firearms to contribute to groundbreaking technology.
