Required Qualifications:Possession of a valid and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license. At least 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (to be obtained within the required timeframe). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (to be obtained within the required timeframe). Experience in caring for patients recovering from cardiac surgery. Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Previous experience in Pediatric CVOR, PICU, NICU, Pediatrics, or Mother/Baby units. Experience in a children's hospital or with pediatric cardiac surgeries.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing pediatric patients and their families for cardiovascular surgeries, including providing education and perioperative support.
  • Conducting thorough preoperative assessments and ensuring patients are ready for procedures.
  • Administering IV therapy, preoperative medications, and verifying surgical sites.
  • Engaging in surgical safety protocols such as briefings, time-outs, and debriefings.
  • Monitoring patient status throughout the procedure and responding effectively to emergencies.
  • Delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care throughout the surgical journey.
  • Collaborating closely with pediatric cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesia teams, perfusionists, and other perioperative staff.
  • Utilizing critical thinking and clinical judgment to support safe surgical outcomes.
  • Accurately documenting patient assessments, interventions, and responses.
  • Educating patients and families on procedures, recovery, and follow-up care.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining patient safety standards.
