Responsibilities include:
- Preparing pediatric patients and their families for cardiovascular surgeries, including providing education and perioperative support.
- Conducting thorough preoperative assessments and ensuring patients are ready for procedures.
- Administering IV therapy, preoperative medications, and verifying surgical sites.
- Engaging in surgical safety protocols such as briefings, time-outs, and debriefings.
- Monitoring patient status throughout the procedure and responding effectively to emergencies.
- Delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care throughout the surgical journey.
- Collaborating closely with pediatric cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesia teams, perfusionists, and other perioperative staff.
- Utilizing critical thinking and clinical judgment to support safe surgical outcomes.
- Accurately documenting patient assessments, interventions, and responses.
- Educating patients and families on procedures, recovery, and follow-up care.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining patient safety standards.
