Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and sustain a high-performance, mission-driven work culture. Lead recruitment efforts: sourcing talent, coordinating interviews, managing ATS workflows, and collaborating with hiring managers. Proactively identify and engage candidates through LinkedIn, recruitment networks, universities, and industry contacts. Manage onboarding, offboarding, employment documentation, and ensure global compliance. Oversee payroll operations in the US and Europe through Deel and local providers. Administer employee benefits, monitor eligibility, and handle annual renewals. Implement and maintain HRIS, ATS, and people-data workflows. Draft and update people policies, employee handbooks, and internal documentation.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and mission-driven People Operations Lead to cultivate and sustain a high-performance culture that promotes excellence in engineering, operational efficiency, and rapid global scaling. As our inaugural dedicated People hire, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organizational practices, collaboration methods, and growth strategies during this critical expansion phase.

This position combines elements of culture development, people operations, and recruitment excellence, along with the operational management of our San Jose office. You will create systems, processes, and an environment that empower top technical talent to thrive. Your responsibilities will include actively sourcing, attracting, and coordinating exceptional candidates through various channels such as LinkedIn, recruitment agencies, events, and direct outreach. You will oversee the complete people operations pipeline, from onboarding and payroll to policy development and regulatory compliance.

Additionally, you will manage the daily operations of our San Jose office, ensuring a productive, well-organized, and motivating atmosphere that aligns with our mission and supports team performance. Your contributions will significantly impact Trener’s culture, talent density, and operational momentum.
