Role Overview: Per Diem Emergency Veterinarian (Columbus, OH)

The Per Diem Emergency Veterinarian addresses urgent medical needs for pets in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves managing a variety of emergency cases, from routine issues to complex surgeries. The team values mentorship and ongoing learning, offering access to VEG Education programs and unlimited continuing education focused on emergency care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate medical guidance and answer questions by phone.
  • Assess patients promptly using VEG Triage and VEG Spikes systems to ensure timely care and keep families together.
  • Collect patient information, including signalment, presenting complaints, vital signs, and perform thorough physical exams.
  • Use diagnostic tools such as ultrasounds, X-rays, blood tests, and biopsies to support accurate diagnoses.
  • Implement treatment plans and perform complex surgical procedures as needed.
