Qualifications

* Valid licensure as a certified Phlebotomist in the State of California (CPTI or CPTII) is required. Alternatively, an RN or LVN license will be accepted.* Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience is required.* Clinical laboratory experience in a high-volume lab setting is preferred.* Ability to demonstrate hand/finger strength and dexterity to perform approximately 6 draws within a 2.5-hour timeframe daily.* Current CPR and AED certification is necessary.* Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work independently.* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with NBDS donors and staff.* Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and database management.* Customer service-oriented with a positive, professional attitude.

Join our dynamic team at the Scripps Research Institute as a Phlebotomist / Laboratory Assistant! In this vital role, you will be responsible for performing essential phlebotomy duties, which include drawing blood from volunteer donors, preparing specimens for our Normal Blood Donor Service (NBDS) department, and monitoring vital signs. Your contributions will support our mission to advance biomedical research and improve health outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Recruit, screen, and schedule potential blood donors.
* Collect, record, and monitor donor vital signs efficiently.
* Collect and prepare blood specimens in a high-volume lab environment.
* Execute standard laboratory procedures, including blood processing, blood typing, and DNA extraction.
* Handle administrative tasks associated with lab records and processing donor payments.
* Update the department website for NBDS and assist with various tasks as needed.
