Job Summary

As a Principal Electrical Engineer at Red 6, you will be instrumental in the design and development of cutting-edge augmented reality systems tailored for aerospace applications. Your role will encompass the comprehensive execution of intricate electrical designs, from requirement derivation and circuit architecture to detailed design, integration, and qualification testing. Your contributions will be vital in delivering high-performance AR systems that adhere to rigorous aerospace and military standards.

This position emphasizes technical contribution in hardware design, engineering excellence, and system integration. While there are no direct management responsibilities, you will provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support the ongoing enhancement of engineering practices as the organization grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, and develop electrical hardware for rugged airborne applications.

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of electrical hardware: design, simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, debugging, and integration.

  • Convert high-level system requirements into precise electrical hardware specifications.

  • Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-704 for power system interfaces, safeguarding against voltage transients, frequency deviations, and other power anomalies.

  • Formulate verification strategies and testing plans to confirm adherence to electrical and environmental specifications (e.g., EMI, thermal, vibration).

  • Assess and select components based on performance, availability, and compliance with military specifications.

  • Participate in system architecture evaluations and risk analyses (e.g., FMEA, fault tree analysis).

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including block diagrams, schematics, and test reports.

  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, systems, and manufacturing engineers to ensure cohesive integration and optimal system performance.
