At Uncommon Schools, we are dedicated to building high-performing schools and need passionate leaders who are ready to take on the most urgent and impactful work of our time. As a Principal Fellow, you will undergo comprehensive training utilizing best practices in educational leadership, preparing you to step into an Uncommon Principal role upon completion of the Fellowship. In this position, you will co-lead a school alongside an Uncommon Director of Operations. You will be a full-time employee, supported and evaluated by the Regional Superintendent of Instruction and the Senior Director of School Support.
Key Components of the Fellowship:
Feedback and Assessment
Individualized feedback will be crucial for your development as a leader, helping transform our schools from good to great. Throughout the Fellowship, you will receive ongoing feedback from your Host Principal, the Regional Superintendent of Instruction, and the Senior Director of School Support during school activities, professional development, and cohort gatherings.
School Immersion
As a Principal Fellow, you will immerse yourself in the daily operations of an Uncommon school, gaining firsthand experience of the challenges school leaders face. Collaborating closely with your Host Principal and Senior Director of School Support, you will strategize on mastering essential skills and competencies in areas such as Instructional Leadership, Teacher Development, School Culture, and Family Engagement.
Professional Development
Engaging in monthly, cross-regional professional development sessions alongside current Principals and fellow cohort members, you will learn about the latest instructional leadership and personnel management best practices. Additionally, you will participate in cohort-specific workshops that provide intimate learning experiences, allowing for direct application of concepts to your school immersion.
