Are You Ready to Expand the Frontiers of Marine Ecology?To be successful in this role, you will need:Extensive marine ecological expertise with proven experience in preparing and reviewing specialized technical chapters and all related impact assessments, including EIA, HRA, MCZ, and WFD. A comprehensive understanding of marine consenting and licensing frameworks in the UK, including experience liaising with and submitting applications to key regulatory bodies such as the MMO, NRW, Scottish MD, and The Crown Estate. The capability to deliver technical advice and apply advanced scientific practices, theories, and technologies across a diverse range of marine projects. Marine field survey experience in benthic, fish, shellfish, and/or marine mammals is an advantage. Experience in team coordination, including line management and mentoring of junior team members. A proactive approach to business development and client engagement.

Our work spans diverse sectors, such as high-profile power and infrastructure initiatives (including floating offshore wind), interconnectors, habitat restoration, flood defence, and coastal development (marinas, jetties, slipways, wharves, and ports).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Offer technical marine ecological and consenting advice, guiding various workstreams and deliverables across an array of projects, including the complete EIA or DCO development cycle. You will conduct marine ecology impact assessments, including ES chapters and related assessments (HRA, MCZ, WFD), supporting license and permitting applications for marine projects.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain a keen eye for detail to ensure our deliverables meet the highest quality standards, adhering to our thorough quality management procedures. Your excellent writing and communication skills will allow you to present complex scientific information tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Collaboration: Engage as part of a multidisciplinary team to enhance the environmental outcomes of our projects, collaborating with specialists in underwater acoustics, coastal processes, water science, and marine archaeology.
  • Growth and Business Development: Contribute to our marine ecology team's growth by developing technical and fee proposals and engaging in broader marketing and business development strategies. You will confidently present to both internal and external stakeholders and facilitate client interactions.
  • Project Management: Demonstrate effective project management skills, ensuring timely and successful project delivery while leading and mentoring junior team members.
