Are You Ready to Make a Difference?To succeed in this role, you will need:Extensive marine ecological expertise, with experience in preparing and reviewing technical chapters and impact assessments such as EIA, HRA, MCZ, and WFD. A thorough understanding of marine consenting and licensing across the UK, with experience in liaising with regulatory bodies such as the MMO, NRW, and The Crown Estate. Experience in marine field surveys across areas including benthic ecosystems, fish populations, shellfish, and marine mammals is advantageous. Capability to provide advanced technical advice and apply scientific practices for a variety of marine projects. Experience in team coordination, including mentoring junior staff.

If you have a deep-rooted passion for Marine Ecology, we invite you to join our vibrant Nature team as a Principal Marine Ecologist. This position offers flexibility with our hybrid working model and the chance to work from one of our offices in the UK and Ireland, including Basingstoke, Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, Cambridge, and Dublin. You will apply your expertise across both national and international projects in diverse sectors, including prominent power and infrastructure projects like floating offshore wind, national and international interconnectors, habitat restoration, flood defense initiatives, and coastal developments such as marinas and ports.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert: You will provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice to both internal teams and clients, overseeing various workstreams and deliverables, including marine ecology impact assessments and related licensing applications.
  • Quality Assurance: Your keen attention to detail will ensure that all deliverables meet our high-quality standards and compliance with rigorous management procedures. Excellent writing and communication skills are essential to convey complex scientific information to varied audiences.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, enhancing the environmental outcomes of projects, including specialists in underwater acoustics and marine archaeology.
  • Business Development: Contribute to winning new work for the marine ecology team through developing technical proposals and engaging with clients.
  • Project Management: Be an effective project manager, overseeing project delivery from inception to completion.
