Are You Ready to Challenge the Norm?Here’s What We’re Looking For:A degree (or equivalent) in Civil and/or Structural Engineering or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in structural engineering design. Expertise in the design and construction of reinforced concrete structures and structural steelwork. Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as TEDDS and SCIA, or comparable 3D finite element modeling tools. Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or MIStructE) status or nearing chartership. Strong knowledge of UK structural design codes. Willingness to travel to site or client offices as required.

AECOM is excited to announce an opening for a driven Principal Structural Engineer to join our Edinburgh-based structural engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and executing civil engineering projects across Scotland and the UK, collaborating with major clients such as Wessex Water, Scottish Water (SR27), Scottish Canals, and the Northern Lighthouse Board.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership: Lead and contribute to the structural design of diverse civil engineering structures for our water industry partners and other key clients. Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, and specifications, with a focus on reinforced concrete (RC) design.
  • Field Expertise: Conduct structural inspections, site surveys, and oversee construction activities. Assist with project planning, budgeting, and client communications.
  • Team Collaboration: Engage with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions; offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Compliance and Quality: Ensure adherence to relevant UK design codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes); contribute to ongoing improvements and innovation within the team.
