Job Overview
As a Production Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective production support and facilitating the growth of our production processes. This position involves the seamless integration of advanced technical methodologies into our shipyard capabilities, supporting the shift from low-rate to high-volume production, and leading the adoption of innovative automated production tools and software enhancements. This role requires working in elevated positions (using scaffolds or manlifts) and in confined spaces. On-site training will be provided to equip you with the necessary skills.
Technical Knowledge
Maintain rigorous compliance with paperwork and quality standards.
Collaborate directly with the software engineering team on the development of the shipyard/production management system.
Take ownership of identifying and resolving production defects, spearheading root cause analysis to improve yield and reduce rework rates.
Interpret and apply blueprints and project specifications effectively.
Job Proficiency
Develop production processes within unstructured areas of our operational system.
Assist in transitioning the shipyard from low-rate to high-volume production, identifying and implementing necessary process and infrastructure changes.
Aid in prioritizing tasks and managing workflow during peak production times to ensure efficiency.
Oversee the onboarding of new automated production assets, collaborating with software and manufacturing teams to enhance production-related software products.
Initial responsibilities include leading efforts to digitize and scale shipbuilding processes from anecdotal knowledge.
Culture and Collaboration
Adhere to all shipyard safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), fire safety measures, and protocols for confined spaces.
Contribute to the training and development of fellow production and manufacturing engineers.
Engage and communicate effectively with welders, metal fitters, and other team members to foster collaboration.
