General Responsibilities
- Lead the advancement of innovative formulation fill & pack (FF&P) assets and infrastructure by managing complex engineering capital projects (CapEx) from inception to execution.
- The Project Engineer will collaborate within a dynamic team to revolutionize sustainable agriculture through state-of-the-art facility designs, equipment installations, and comprehensive lifecycle management of large-scale engineering projects at our Karachi site.
Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Management
- Oversee the entire CapEx process from planning through to capitalization.
- Ensure the successful delivery of capital projects aligned with strategic objectives, adhering to timelines, budget constraints, and the company’s EPP governance framework.
- Utilize data-driven insights to facilitate informed decision-making regarding capital investments and equipment upgrades.
- Collaborate closely with the site engineering manager to define project scope, often navigating through uncertainties until the Terms of Reference is finalized.
- Identify, define, and oversee the implementation of appropriate engineering standards for design, procurement, and construction, ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations.
- Work closely with regional technical resources, subject matter experts, principal engineers, and key stakeholders to ensure capital projects incorporate fit-for-purpose engineering solutions that meet Syngenta's HSE and business requirements.
- Create a comprehensive engineering definition package detailing the technical, process, and operational requirements of the asset to be developed, followed by a thorough design process to meet project success criteria.
- Act as the primary contact for regional and functional teams regarding all project-related activities.
- Compile project progress reports and employ earned value management techniques to assess planned versus actual timelines and costs.
Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Assurance
- Promote a zero-incident safety culture within the engineering department and across the facility.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, quality standards, and Syngenta's internal policies.
- Lead by example in advocating safe work practices and cultivating a safety-first mindset among all team members.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop detailed project scope, design, execution, and communication strategies.
- Implement risk management and mitigation strategies; identify and secure necessary resources; lead project activities across the Karachi site.
- Steer the CapEx planning phase and effectively manage stakeholder expectations.
- Estimate, execute, and monitor project costs to maintain financial accountability.
