Residency Program Overview

This residency program at Blackbird aims to equip the next generation of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners with the confidence and expertise needed to excel as specialists in child and adolescent mental health care.

Our next Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Residency Program is set to commence in April 2026.

  • The residency lasts 9-12 months and is tailored for recent graduates or those new to licensure, providing a robust launchpad for their careers in the field.
  • This program facilitates the transition from academic training to professional practice through a blend of clinical experience and didactic learning.
  • Residents will be equipped with the tools and support necessary to deliver cutting-edge diagnoses and treatments to children and adolescents, while thriving in an interdisciplinary outpatient model.
  • Participants will form meaningful relationships with colleagues that will bolster their practice and success in the PMHNP profession.
  • Upon successfully completing the residency, graduates will have the opportunity to enhance their newly acquired skills as senior members of the Blackbird medical team for a minimum of two years following residency completion.
