Role overview
This remote QA Automation Engineer (Mobile/Android) position is based in Latvia and centers on ensuring the reliability of Point Wild’s global security products. The focus is on automation for mobile VPN products like HotspotShield and Betternet, as well as the UltraAV antivirus app. The team values engineers who are agile, outcome-focused, and able to develop practical solutions that support ongoing company growth.
What you will do
- Design and enhance the Android automation framework using Espresso and Kakao-Cup as the product suite expands.
- Create complex testing strategies for VPN features, including scenarios with unstable or changing network connections.
- Collaborate with developers and QA teammates to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues, providing detailed bug reports.
- Promote QA best practices and contribute to the development of the overall QA strategy.
- Research and assess new testing tools and methods to improve QA processes.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience automating UI tests for Android apps developed in Kotlin.
- Proven hands-on experience with Espresso and Kakao-Cup, including testing Jetpack Compose and XML-based interfaces.
- Familiarity with Robolectric and Mockito for building test infrastructure and mocking dependencies.
- Ability to set up and manage pipelines in CircleCI, and use Bash or sh scripting for automation and processing test results.
- Experience with sharding and parallelizing tests using test frameworks.
