Role Overview
The Reality Capture & Geospatial Production Technician will join Olsson’s growing reality capture team. This technician transforms high-resolution data from UAV LiDAR, photogrammetry, terrestrial scanners, and mobile mapping systems into precise deliverables for transportation, municipal, and infrastructure projects. The work spans both office and field settings, including varied terrains and weather conditions.
Main Responsibilities
- Organize, ingest, and validate raw point cloud and imagery data sets.
- Verify coordinate systems, metadata, and survey control alignment.
- Register and align data using software such as Leica Cyclone Register 360, Leica Cyclone Pegasus Office, DJI Terra, LP360, Pix4D, and Trimble Business Center.
- Maintain organized, traceable file structures and documentation for QA/QC and audits.
- Set up and run point cloud feature extraction workflows with TopoDOT and Leica Cyclone 3DR.
- Convert extracted features into CAD and design outputs ready for clients.
- Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation.
- Perform accuracy checks and calculations to ensure outputs meet standards.
- Support survey plan creation, design support files, and construction documents.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of reality capture deliverables against internal, DOT, and ASPRS standards.
- Spot extraction errors, data gaps, and rework risks early in the process.
- Work closely with survey crews, designers, engineers, and project managers.

This position is based in Des Moines, IA, Lincoln, NE, or Omaha, NE.
