Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:Minimum of five years of experience in palliative and oncology nursing. Palliative Care Certificate or Certified Hospice Palliative Care Nurse Certification is mandatory. Completion of a foundational course in oncology nursing practice is required. Provincial standardized chemotherapy and biotherapy course completion is required. Certification in Oncology Nursing Canada is preferred. Completion of the Foundations of Oncology for Emergency Nurses course is required, or must be completed within one year of hire. Core Competencies:Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Comprehensive understanding of the nursing process, theory, and responsibilities. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills. Ability to collaborate effectively as part of an inter-professional team.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring safe nursing practices throughout the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Adhering to policies and procedures related to patient observation.
- Delivering professional, patient-centered care that prioritizes safety and promotes both physiological and psychological well-being, fostering a therapeutic relationship and environment.
- Providing compassionate care in a culturally diverse setting.
- Implementing infection control and prevention measures diligently.
- Responding to emergencies by accurately assessing changes in a patient's health status and consulting appropriately using transfer of accountability principles.
- Educating patients and families, including comprehensive discharge instructions to ensure continuity of care post-discharge.
