Qualifications
Recent clinical experience within the last five years, with a minimum of two years in postpartum care. Current certification in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program or proof of enrollment within 30 days of hire. Completion of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario breastfeeding e-learning course is required. Obstetrics Nursing certificate is essential, or proof of enrollment within 30 days of hire. Preferred: Operating room scrub experience or enrollment in an operating room course. Completion of courses in sugar, temperature, airway management, blood pressure, lab work, and emotional support or proof of enrollment within 30 days of hire.

Join our dedicated team as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in the Mother Baby Unit, where you will play a vital role in delivering quality, patient-centered nursing care. As a regulated health care professional, you will focus on patients identified as less complex and at lower risk for negative outcomes, working collaboratively within an inter-professional health care team. Your practice will adhere to the nursing standards established by Osler, the College of Nurses, and the Regulated Health Professions Act.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe nursing practices throughout the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Deliver professional, patient-centered care, ensuring safety and promoting both physiological and psychological well-being.
- Provide compassionate care within a culturally diverse environment.
- Follow infection control and prevention protocols diligently.
- React appropriately in emergency situations by recognizing changes in patients’ health status and utilizing transfer of accountability principles.
- Educate patients and their families, providing comprehensive discharge instructions for continuity of care upon return to the community.
