THE ROLE

As a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you will immerse yourself in the heart of veterinary emergency care from day one. You will support your team, comfort pet parents, and learn in a real-time environment. Your contributions will span the entirety of care, from triage to treatment, and your journey with us can lead to a fulfilling career in veterinary medicine, whether as a credentialed technician or in another capacity aligned with your passions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a warm welcome to incoming patients and assist in triaging them for care.
  • Support nursing care and treatments, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
  • Collaborate with our credentialed technicians and veterinarians in monitoring anesthesia and sedation cases.
  • Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
  • Engage throughout the care process, from exam rooms to treatment areas.
  • Participate in patient rounds to ensure continuous care.
  • Receive training to perform CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.
  • Advance into more specialized roles within the organization.
