Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited university.6+ years of relevant experience in the field. Experience must encompass design and integration of utility-scale renewable and battery storage systems. Current professional engineering license (PE) is required. Preferred Qualifications:At least 4 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.12+ years of relevant experience preferred. Highly proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with additional industry software such as NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope, Homer, ETAP, and WindPRO. Ability to conduct financial estimations for systems (Capex, Opex), recommend PPAs, and calculate ROI. Experience in designing MV AC collection systems. Specialized design experience in floating solar projects.

AECOM is seeking a Renewable Energy Technical Lead to guide our skilled team of engineers and designers engaged in renewable projects nationwide, specifically within the US Energy Practice. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely or from various Energy offices across the United States.

 

Our team delivers a comprehensive array of engineering services to support projects throughout the country. Project scopes encompass commercial and industrial installations focused on resilience, efficiency, and reliability, as well as utility-scale projects aimed at powering communities through interconnected networks or localized high-density installations. Key focus areas include solar photovoltaics (PV) , integrating cutting-edge technologies such as agrivoltaics and floating PV , energy storage (e.g., BESS, supercapacitors), interconnection, wind repowering, and new site development.

 

We are in search of an emerging leader with a diverse technical background in distributed energy solutions to showcase our capabilities to new clients while nurturing our existing robust client relationships.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the department manager in fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers, supporting their individual and collective technical development.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers within the US Energy Practice and other remote teams.

  • Drive project efficiency improvements by creating, updating, and implementing group-specific standards and templates.

  • Advise management on project resourcing and staffing forecasts.

  • Develop task lists and deliverables with estimated hours and schedules for business development related to renewable and decentralized energy projects.

  • Support the department's strategic resourcing initiatives and assist in recruitment efforts.

  • Lead by example in engineering execution as the technical lead and engineer of record on projects.

  • Perform engineering calculations to guide construction deliverables including specifications, reports, and drawings.

  • Support projects throughout their lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design and issue resolution.
