Role Overview: Research and Development Engineer (Photonics/Image Processing)
This 18-month contract position is based in Brest, Bretagne, France, within the Optics Department. The role is part of the European VIVE project, which develops and manages a novel holographic head-up display (HUD) system for automotive applications. The project uses MEMS laser scanners and digital hologram arrays to advance in-car display technology.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop numerical models in C and Python to support the design of metasurfaces and computer-generated hologram (CGH) arrays.
- Participate in cleanroom fabrication, characterization, and optimization of photonic structures and projection systems.
- Disseminate research results through patents and scientific publications.
- Maintain technical coordination with project partners and ensure scientific progress throughout the project.

This position offers the chance to contribute to the advancement of automotive display systems through innovative photonics and image processing research, working closely with a collaborative project team.
