Qualifications

Master’s degree in Automation, Electromechanics, or equivalent relevant experience. At least 3 years of experience with PLC systems (programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, or service). Proficient in PLC software; familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal and TwinCAT is highly advantageous. Strong interest in high-tech industrial automation solutions and software-driven products (experience with conveyor systems is a significant asset). Hands-on, analytical mindset with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility. Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time globally. Fluent in Dutch and English; proficiency in French is a valuable asset. Comfortable working directly at customer sites. Proficient in MS Office and Teams. Excellent communication skills, customer-oriented, eager to learn, and capable of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

About the job

As a Robotics Service Expert, you will take ownership of the PLC software and hardware components of our conveyor systems at Movu (MCS/Metafora). Your role involves managing and expanding the PLC knowledge base to provide essential support to our field service engineers and offer second-line assistance remotely. You will leverage your extensive PLC expertise with a strong product-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Management of PLC Product Knowledge

  • Oversee the technical data related to PLCs in conveyor systems and ensure it is easily accessible for service technicians and the helpdesk.
  • Maintain current PLC software versions and standards.
  • Document diagnostics, fault resolution, and recovery procedures.
  • Establish guidelines for updates and upgrades.
  • Keep as-built software documentation up-to-date.

Second-Line Support & Technical Escalations

  • Provide remote assistance to the field service team as second-line support.
  • Serve as the primary contact for technical escalations related to PLCs from the Service team and first-line helpdesk.
  • Analyze PLC and software issues in the field and define their priority for the Quality Monitoring Board (Movu Q).
  • Participate in the Quality Board and represent Service Operations.
  • Engage in a rolling 24/7 support system for teams and customers.

Troubleshooting & System Support

  • Diagnose and support existing PLC-controlled systems.
  • Investigate software malfunctions and system behavior.
  • Assist in validating PLC software updates, parameter modifications, and bug fixes.
  • Support on-site interventions when necessary (no greenfield development).

Training, Standards & Continuous Improvement

  • Facilitate the development and delivery of PLC-related training for service teams.
  • Act as the source for the latest PLC-related product information.
  • Enhance structures, tools, and guidelines for service engineers in troubleshooting and maintaining PLC systems.
  • Monitor the serviceability and stability of PLC software and drive improvements in future releases.
  • Manage technical changes related to PLCs and coordinate necessary field actions.
  • Gather customer and field feedback on PLC functionality and prioritize these insights for the software teams.
