Accounting & Finance Lead (Act 60 , Manufacturing)

About the Role
Join a dynamic and evolving company in Puerto Rico as we prepare to operate under an Act 60 manufacturing tax decree. We are in search of an experienced Accounting & Finance professional with a proven track record in utilizing Act 60 incentives, preferably in a manufacturing setting. You will be responsible for managing our daily finance operations, ensuring compliance, and overseeing all reporting necessary to retain our tax benefits.
Your Responsibilities
Act 60 Strategy, Compliance & Reporting
- Establish and maintain accounting and record-keeping systems that comply with our Act 60 manufacturing decree.
- Prepare and submit annual compliance deliverables and necessary documentation; liaise with DDEC, Hacienda/SURI, Municipal Patente, and CRIM as required.
- Document and track eligible activities, jobs, investments, and expenditures to facilitate audits and incentive renewals.
- Act as the primary liaison with external tax advisors, legal counsel, and auditors.
Core Accounting & Monthly Closing
- Manage the monthly close process (GL, accruals, reconciliations, journal entries) and ensure timely delivery of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
- Oversee AP/AR, vendor onboarding, payment processing, and collections.
- Implement and supervise inventory, COGS, and manufacturing cost accounting (standard costing, variances, BOMs, work-in-process, inventory valuation).
- Develop and enforce accounting policies and internal controls in line with US GAAP.
Tax, Payroll & Filings
- Coordinate Puerto Rico tax filings and payments (corporate income tax, informative returns/480 series, sales & use tax/IVU, municipal license tax, property tax), collaborating with external advisors as necessary.
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with Puerto Rico's requirements related to our decree (e.g., headcount thresholds, eligible positions).
Planning, Analysis & Cash Management
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, analyze performance, and provide variance analysis with actionable insights.
- Develop a 13-week cash forecast; oversee financial runway, credit lines, and covenant compliance.
- Analyze the financial impact of Act 60 incentives and identify strategies to maximize benefits.
