Job Purpose:The Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing financial management and accounting tasks for the Samarkand Project. This role entails comprehensive bookkeeping, tax compliance, and financial reporting functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing IFRS reporting standards including concession arrangements, financial instruments, and hedge accounting. Additional responsibilities encompass management reporting to HQ, handling payments, banking, treasury operations, debt servicing, budgeting, forecasting, taxation compliance, statistical and customs returns, as well as managing debtor accounts and governmental submissions related to the Ministry of Energy. The Accountant will ensure the integrity of internal controls and accounting information, adhering to both IFRS and local GAAP regulations, while maintaining the accuracy of the General Ledger (GL) to guarantee precise financial reporting.Key Responsibilities:Financial Accounting:Accurately record all business transactions related to the project in the GL, complying with Masdar’s financial policies and accounting standards.Prepare monthly trial balances and ensure timely and accurate closure of financial books.Conduct monthly accruals and provisions to maintain completeness and accuracy.Ensure the integrity of the accounting software or similar systems/data.Support the external audit process of financial statements as per received directives.Prepare monthly aging reports for receivables and payables, ensuring compliance with IFRS and Masdar financial policies.Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, customer/vendor balances, and all balance sheet accounts.Report on project costs, providing detailed breakdowns of capital expenditures and significant balances.Manage cash flow and monitor bank balances to ensure accuracy.Create purchase orders in accordance with agreements and match them to vendor invoices for payment processing.Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes and reporting in compliance with IFRS.Support payroll processing to ensure timely compensation of employees, monitoring timesheets and leave.Managerial Accounting and Reporting:Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts, managerial financial reports, financial analyses, and budgets.
