Role Overview
Point Wild is looking for a Backend Engineer to join a remote team based in Bulgaria. This role centers on developing security-focused features, with a strong emphasis on cryptography, automation, and AI-driven analysis. As part of a small, technical group, the Backend Engineer will work hands-on across the stack, collaborating with senior engineers and contributing to product development from planning through implementation.
Main Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement new product features.
- Write clean, maintainable backend code for systems running on AWS or GCP.
- Collaborate with experts in AI and cryptography.
- Work with the product manager to clarify requirements and help plan architecture, data flows, API specifications, and testing approaches.
- Follow engineering best practices and participate in team discussions about process and quality.
- Engage in customer-driven development, iterating based on user feedback.
- Develop automated tests for load, performance, and error scenarios.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience, focused on backend systems.
- Strong skills in TypeScript.
- Experience with AWS container services (EKS, ECS) and serverless architectures.
- Knowledge of relational, key/value, and graph databases, including schema management.
- Ability to design APIs, model data, build secure services, and work with various database systems.
- Dedication to writing high-quality code, solid error handling, and maintaining high system availability.
- A practical and thoughtful approach to technical problem-solving.
- Upper-intermediate spoken and written English.
Location
This is a remote position open to candidates based in Bulgaria.
