Role Overview: Chief Compliance Officer
The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) leads the compliance function, ensuring all company operations meet Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) requirements, FIR‑03, Maltese law, and relevant EU legislation. This executive role supervises regulatory reporting, internal controls, risk monitoring, and acts as the primary contact with the MFSA on compliance matters.
The CCO operates independently from operational management, providing effective and credible compliance oversight.
Main Responsibilities
Establish and Maintain the Compliance Function
- Maintain an effective compliance function in line with FIR‑03 and MFSA guidance.
- Monitor and assess the compliance program, including policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Develop and implement a Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP).
- Ensure the compliance function is properly resourced and skilled, with unrestricted access to necessary information.
- Maintain independence in compliance oversight.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure ongoing compliance with MFSA regulations, FIR‑03 rules, AML/CTF requirements, and relevant EU directives.
- Develop, update, and enforce company policies and procedures for compliance, anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, risk monitoring, and internal governance.
