Infleqtion is seeking a Senior AMO Physicist to join its neutral atom quantum computing team in the UK. This full-time role is based at the Kidlington, Oxford office and the National Quantum Computing Centre in Harwell, with the option to work from home up to two days per week (subject to business needs and manager approval).
Role overview
This position centers on hands-on research within the expanding UK Physics Department. The Senior AMO Physicist will support ongoing projects and investigate new concepts for future quantum computing systems. Collaboration with physicists and engineers is a key part of the work.
What you will do
Project support
- Translate product requirements into atomic system designs.
- Model, simulate, and perform analytical calculations to verify system performance.
- Design and carry out testing and verification plans.
- Integrate opto-mechanical systems, electronics, and software into quantum devices.
- Manage technical tasks such as equipment setup and system demonstrations.
- Identify materials and components for each project.
- Document progress and track, resolve, and report project issues.
Team collaboration
- Work closely with colleagues to meet project deadlines.
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams to develop commercial and non-commercial products or draft new quantum-focused initiatives.
- Adapt to changing project priorities as technology advances.
- Embrace new methods, integrate feedback, and collaborate with diverse teams to manage uncertainty.
- Assess complex scenarios and make informed decisions in ambiguous situations.
