Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering; experience in sawmills is a plus. Proficient with 3D CAD software, with Autodesk Inventor as a bonus. Solid experience with GD&T on 2D drawings. Familiarity with finite element analysis. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs); indirect experience is acceptable.

We are currently looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our dynamic Design Engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the charge in integrating technical innovations into a centuries-old industry. You will be responsible for the design of intricate mechanical systems that incorporate hydraulic, pneumatic, and sensory controls to enhance lumber refinement at various stages. Collaboration with fellow design engineers and technicians to review, install, and test your designs in a production setting will be key components of your role.

This position is located onsite in New Albany, Mississippi, and is ideally suited for candidates who are local and can maintain a consistent presence at our mill sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design sawmilling equipment and associated subsystems.

  • Document design processes and analyses, leading cross-functional brainstorming sessions.

  • Develop and author installation and testing procedures for equipment.

  • Oversee part procurement processes.

  • Engage and manage relationships with external vendors effectively.

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action investigations as required.

  • Provide regular updates to cross-functional teams.

  • Support and participate in onsite installations and testing activities.
