Oklo is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the team supporting a new nuclear fuel recycling facility. This position can be based in Santa Clara, CA or remote.
Role overview
This position focuses on designing, developing, integrating, and validating electrical systems essential to a first-of-a-kind (FOAK) nuclear fuel recycling facility. Systems include facility power distribution, electrical infrastructure, equipment power, and interfaces with process and control systems. The work spans the full facility lifecycle: conceptual development, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Collaboration with teams across facility design, process engineering, controls engineering, equipment design, and regulatory licensing is essential.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design and execution of facility electrical systems from initial concept through commissioning
- Design and specify high-, medium-, and low-voltage power distribution systems
- Define system architecture, including redundancy, backup power, and safety strategies
- Conduct and review power system studies such as load flow, short-circuit, and coordination analyses
- Create and review electrical documentation, including single-line diagrams, load lists, specifications, and cable schedules
- Oversee integration with control systems, including PLC, DCS, and HMI interfaces
- Develop strategies for grounding, bonding, and lightning protection
- Support procurement, installation, and commissioning phases
