About the job
We are seeking a Senior Technical Office Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves managing the thorough technical evaluation, coordination, and validation of all electrical shop drawings and material submissions, ensuring they meet design specifications, regulatory codes, and industry standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with contractors, consultants, and other engineering disciplines to mitigate interface clashes and uphold precise documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Shop Drawing & Submittal Management:
- Lead and execute a comprehensive technical review of all electrical shop drawings submitted by contractors, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), panel schedules, cable containment layouts, lighting, power layouts, wiring schematics, and ELV system architectures.
- Carefully verify shop drawings against design documents and specifications to ensure strict adherence to design intent, equipment ratings, and applicable codes.
- Oversee the formal review and approval process for all electrical material submissions, including datasheets for switchgear, transformers, generators, cables, light fittings, and ELV system components.
- Facilitate the coordination of electrical shop drawings with architectural and mechanical/structural submissions to proactively identify and resolve interface conflicts.
Technical Coordination & Information Control:
- Administer the Request for Information (RFI) process related to electrical issues, ensuring clarity in contractor RFIs, coordinating responses with design consultants for timely resolutions.
- Act as the key technical liaison for the contractor's technical team on all electrical matters.
- Review and provide expert feedback on contractor-proposed Method Statements and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for critical electrical installations and commissioning.
- Examine contractor-submitted electrical calculations, such as cable sizing and voltage drop, to ensure design compliance.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain a well-organized and current register of all electrical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, and material submissions.
- Ensure that the construction team is always equipped with the latest, fully coordinated, and approved versions of all electrical documents.
- Assist in compiling final as-built drawings and records, ensuring they accurately capture all electrical modifications and deviations.
