Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer , Installations, Energy Planning & Process Control Systems (Consultancy / Project Lead)
Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Riyadh-based; travel as required)
Reporting to: Lead Process Engineer / Programme Director
Our client is spearheading a transformative industrial facility under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. This innovative project focuses on processing critical minerals and manufacturing permanent magnets, positioning the Kingdom as a leading hub in the rare-earth value chain and supporting energy-transition technologies such as electric vehicles and wind power.
Role Overview:
We are on the lookout for a highly experienced Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to offer technical leadership in the initial feasibility and conceptual stages, followed by the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) preparation. This role involves defining essential electrical infrastructure and developing robust process control strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define the electrical plant infrastructure, including power distribution networks, medium and low-voltage systems, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), backup power, and site utilities.
- Conduct energy planning and optimization assessments focusing on peak demand, load profiles, energy efficiency opportunities, and integration of renewable energy sources.
- Specify electrical equipment, cable schedules, and hazardous-area classification requirements.
- Design instrumentation and control architecture: selecting DCS/PLC systems, defining I/O lists, and specifying control room design considerations.
- Prepare FEED-level electrical and instrumentation technical packages and RFQ documents for key electrical and control systems.
- Lead vendor evaluations and oversee factory and site acceptance tests, ensuring compliance with international standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective project integration and adherence to safety standards.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, reviewing their deliverables for quality assurance.
