AECOM is on the lookout for a seasoned Senior Engineering Manager specializing in rail transit systems. This pivotal role demands extensive knowledge in electrical engineering, rail vehicle architecture, signaling systems, and integration. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills to manage interdisciplinary teams, oversee large-scale projects, and effectively engage with clients and stakeholders.
The Senior Engineering Manager will take charge of the design, procurement, testing, and commissioning of rail systems and vehicles, ensuring adherence to safety, performance, and regulatory benchmarks. This role combines technical guidance with project management for sophisticated rail transit initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive engineering initiatives and provide program management for rail transit and vehicle projects, covering design, procurement, and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards; develop technical specifications and comprehensive documentation for rail systems.
- Oversee the integration of vehicle systems, including HVAC, electromechanical systems, braking systems, and communication/control systems.
- Create and revise technical drawings, such as single-line diagrams and schematics, aligning with client specifications and project needs.
- Review the integration of signaling systems (ETCS, CBTC, PTC) and train-to-ground communication systems for both wayside and onboard operations.
- Lead the design and commissioning of systems for rail vehicles, ensuring effective resolution of integration and testing challenges.
- Manage vehicle qualification testing and First Article Inspections (FAI), ensuring compliance with all safety and performance criteria.
- Formulate and implement system commissioning and testing strategies for signaling and rolling stock systems.
- Provide leadership and support to multidisciplinary engineering teams, facilitating proper subsystem integration and conducting regular technical meetings.
- Prepare engineering budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and proposals to satisfy the technical and business needs of complex transit projects.
- Create thorough technical documents, including design reports, test plans, specifications, and validation reports, ensuring quality and usability.
- Nurture client and stakeholder relationships, significantly contributing to business development, proposal initiatives, and technical advisory efforts.
