About the job

About GiveDirectly

GiveDirectly (GD) is on a mission to revolutionize international philanthropy and transform millions of lives through direct cash transfers to the world’s most impoverished communities. According to the Brookings Institution, an estimated $70 billion in cash transfers is necessary to eradicate the poverty gap, while the aid sector currently allocates $135 billion annually, much of which goes to interventions lacking empirical support. Our goal is to establish cash transfers as the gold standard for foreign aid, similar to how index funds have become a benchmark in finance, ultimately accelerating the end of extreme poverty.

Since its inception in 2011, GD has raised over $1 billion, successfully delivered cash to more than 1.5 million individuals across 15 countries, and backed substantial, experimental research showcasing the positive impact of our initiatives. Recognized as one of the most innovative non-profits by Fast Company, GD has also been featured in prominent media outlets such as New York Times Magazine, This American Life, Foreign Affairs, and The Economist.

We pride ourselves on a culture that is transparent, analytical, agile, and flat in hierarchy. Our diverse global team of approximately 150, complemented by around 650 country operations staff, represents 21 countries and speaks 69 languages. From software engineers and seasoned humanitarian professionals to former management consultants and public servants, our team is a remarkable mix of talent.

Our values are fundamental and intentionally strong. We prioritize the needs of the communities we serve in our decision-making processes, striving to cultivate an ambitious, dynamic, and high-performing workforce. We encourage potential candidates to review our values carefully; if they resonate with your work style and motivate you, this could be an excellent opportunity.

At GiveDirectly, we are committed to fostering an environment where all team members can flourish, thrive, and advance in their careers. We emphasize flexibility, mutual support, enjoyment, and professional growth.
