Role overview
The Senior IT Support Engineer position is based in Southampton and focuses on supporting and managing complex IT systems across NVD’s operations. This role suits someone who learns new technologies quickly and enjoys working with intricate, sometimes unfamiliar systems. Experience in logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing environments is especially valued.
Occasional travel to other sites in the UK and the Republic of Ireland is required to support business operations and infrastructure projects.
What you will do
- System mastery: Become the subject matter expert for bespoke internal applications and complex systems used at different sites.
- Network management: Take responsibility for site networking, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and firewalls. Troubleshoot connectivity issues and maintain stable links between locations.
- Hardware oversight: Manage the full hardware lifecycle, covering phones, tablets, laptops, industrial peripherals, and workshop-specific devices.
- Cloud and CRM administration: Handle Google Workspace (Enterprise) administration, including security protocols, organizational unit management, and data migration. Administer Salesforce accounts and address basic CRM issues.
- Business continuity: Assess and reduce risks to operations, prioritizing critical workshop and transport functions.
- On-site support: Occasionally visit other UK sites to lead infrastructure upgrades or resolve significant technical issues.
Requirements
- Advanced networking skills: Deep understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, and DHCP, with hands-on experience configuring enterprise switches and firewalls.
- Google Admin Console: Demonstrated experience managing Google Workspace environments.
- Agility with complex systems: Proven ability to quickly adapt to proprietary, legacy, or unfamiliar technologies.
